The Opus

The Robertson Opus model is the first in a series of master grade guitars, hand made exclusively by owner and head luthier Ryan Robert Elewaut. This guitar is very unique indeed with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, a sinker Redwood top and a Mahogany neck. The binding is curly Mahogany, with an ebony fingerboard and bridge. The body joins at the 13th fret, which enables beneficial alterations to the bridge location and bracing pattern. The idea of this shape is to achieve and big, small guitar in terms of sound and feel.  The internal bracing is Port Orford Cedar, creating a lively yet warm sounding instrument.

The Opus model also employs a unique A-frame brace system to support the neck joint.  You can read more about that here. (Link coming soon.)

A BEAUTY. Is this the guitar that my dear late friend Jim MacAvoy raved about? He thoughtfully left me his vintage Gibson A model mandolin. Jim and I emailed ideas about guitars and music and reminisced about the old times. May he rest in peace.

Yes this was Jim’s. It is an amazing and interesting instrument. If you know who has it now tell them I would be happy to give it some new strings and a checkup. I haven’t seen her in a while. Cheers.
